Yesterday IPL Match-Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a thrilling match on home ground on April 16. Buoyed by five wins in six matches, Rajasthan won the toss and decided to bowl first.

A lot of action was seen on the field in the exciting match between KKR VS RR. KKR opener Phil Salt, who shone in the last match against Lucknow Supergiants, could not last long this time. Avesh Khan took a brilliant catch on his own ball and was out after scoring just 10 runs on 13 balls.

However, Sunil Narine looked unusually calm. He was not going for big hits on every ball, but was choosing his shots carefully. He found a solid partner in 18-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who displayed his exquisite batting style. Together they made a brilliant partnership of 85 runs before Angkrish was out after scoring 30 runs in 18 balls. Meanwhile, Narine continued to punish Rajasthan’s bowlers, helping KKR reach a strong total of 223/6 in 20 overs.

In reply, Rajasthan’s innings was somewhat like KKR’s innings. While opener Jos Buttler played some good shots, his fellow batsmen could not take advantage of their start. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Buttler remained ahead at a steady pace. However, the task seemed difficult as the required run rate increased.

Buttler found an ally in Rovman Powell, who provided some pace with aggressive strokes. However, Narine’s experience came to the fore when he dismissed Powell at a time when he looked dangerous. Buttler, however, remained the architect and led the innings with maturity.

As the match reached its climax, Buttler took charge and chased down the target almost single-handedly. Even when Trent Boult sacrificed his wicket to keep Buttler on strike, the Englishmen remained unsettled. With some tight bowling from KKR, the equation reached 9 runs required in the final over.

Buttler showed courage and completed his second century of the IPL season by hitting a six on the first ball of the over. However, KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy bowled three consecutive dot balls, which increased the tension. But Butler maintained his composure and managed to level the score by taking two runs on the last ball.

While everyone was standing on their seats, Buttler found the gap on the last ball and gave Rajasthan victory with a thrilling finish on the last ball. It was another masterclass from Buttler as he scored an unbeaten 100 to guide Rajasthan Royals to a memorable 2-wicket win.

Yesterday IPL Match: Man of the Match

Jos Buttler performed brilliantly in the match and scored unbeaten 107 runs in just 60 balls. Due to his brilliant innings he got the Player of the Match award. Interestingly, this was not the first time this year that a player from the opposing team had scored a century. Earlier there was Virat Kohli for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). And now, it was Sunil Narine who achieved this feat. Buttler’s brilliant century ensured victory for his team, just as Kohli had done for RCB earlier.
